Formerly known as the Contemplative Prayer Group, the Prayer Traditions Group seeks to develop a complete life of prayer. The group practices and discusses these prayer forms together while encouraging practice individually.
The group gets together once a month, usually on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, to pray together, to encourage the development of various prayer forms, and to have fellowship. They explore contemplative prayer, lectio divina, the Ignatian method and other Scripture based forms of prayer.
What is contemplative prayer? St. Teresa of Avila says "Contemplative prayer in my opinion is nothing else than a close sharing between friends; it means taking time frequently to be alone with him who we know loves us." St. Teresa's words sum the goal for this group as they seek to understand and practice the great traditions of prayer given to us through many holy men and holy women who have gone before us.
